Today is yours to rest and enjoy your hotel, which has a wonderful infinity pool and heavenly views over to the neighbouring island of Moorea. In the afternoon, we’ve included a helicopter tour, to give you a glimpse of Tahiti island before you leave. This flight will take you over the wild, green interior, where high waterfalls tumble down the cliffs and palm trees sway beneath you. You’ll swing back round to the coast for views over the turquoise ocean and Tahiti’s famous black sand beaches before landing 30 minutes later.
Included: Breakfast, 4* hotel, 30 minute helicopter tour
Day 4: Fly to Fakarava
After breakfast, your driver will collect you for your shared transfer to the airport to connect with your domestic flight to Fakarava. On arrival, you’ll be met and taken to your hotel to check in for a three night stay.
Included: Breakfast, dinner, 3* pension accommodation, flights, transfers
Days 5 and 6: Fakarava
Known as one of the best diving destinations in the world, the island of Fakarava will be a real highlight of this holiday. Take a leisurely bike ride to the main village of Rotoava, located on the longest continuous ‘motu’ in French Polynesia, with lots of extraordinary beaches. Next, you could head to the far southern end of the lagoon, to the village of Tetamanu, where you’ll find an old Catholic church made entirely out of coral.
We’ve included an ‘intro dive’ for you to enjoy here in Fakarava, which can easily be switched to a normal dive if you are already qualified. Dive in and be sure to head down to Tumakohua Pass, home to an underwater valley known as Shark’s Hole. This area is heavily populated with lemon, whitecap and hammerhead sharks, making this a popular destination for divers.
With a distinct absence of large, resort-style hotels Fakarava offers pure surroundings and a secluded island feel that sets it apart from the most visited islands in French Polynesia – perfect for an off-grid honeymoon.
Included: 3* pension accommodation, IntroDive with TopDive, breakfast, dinner
Day 7: Fly to Rangiroa
After breakfast, you’ll be collected and taken to the airport to connect with your domestic flight to Rangiroa. On arrival, you’ll be met and taken to your hotel to check in for a three night stay.
Included: 4* hotel, flights, transfers, breakfast
Day 8 - 10: Rangiroa
This is the largest of the Tuamotu Atolls; home to flat islets and sandbars, rather than mountainous peaks, Rangiroa’s gem is its vast lagoon, so large the island of Tahiti could fit inside! Home to schools of dolphin as well an abundance of other marine life, Rangiroa is a popular choice for diving and deep-sea fishing.
Cruising the lagoon is a popular pastime, so be sure to book a trip to take you out to the more remote islets. Head to the ‘Pink Sands’ for a desert beach experience with a difference or ‘Reef Island’ to witness the impressive coral formations that have been created by erosion.
However you decide to spend your time, you’ll leave Rangiroa with a lasting impression of secluded beauty and remote paradise worth exploring.
Included: 4* hotel, breakfast
Day 11: Fly to Tikehau
After breakfast, you’ll be taken back to the airport for the short flight to Tikehau. On arrival, you’ll be taken by boat to Ninamu Resort, where you’ll check in for 4 nights. Ninamu Resort is home to eight beautiful bungalows and caters for a maximum capacity of 26 people, so even if it’s fully booked the island feels deliciously quiet. Each bungalow is unique and hand-built from natural local materials.
Included: Flights, transfers, breakfast, dinner, Ninamu Resort
Days 12 - 14: Tikehau
You have 2 full days to enjoy Ninamu, set on a tiny island in the atoll of Tikehau. There are several little beach huts with sun beds, where you can settle down with a cocktail and drink in the romantic Tahitian sunset. The beaches are pretty and white, but they do have a little bit of coral, so you need to be careful with your feet. There are beautiful shells everywhere, but if you look at them long enough, they will probably scuttle off – almost everything is alive on this island.
The food at Ninamu is delicious - think huge tuna and avocado salads for lunch and a perfect fillet of emperor fish for dinner, on a bed of rice, basil oil and roasted peppers. For dessert, a rum-drenched banana, flambéed and served with bright purple taro ice cream and almonds. Just because you’re on a remote island doesn’t mean you can’t eat well!
Another fantastic thing about Ninamu Resort is that most activities are included in your stay. There’s a huge shed full of equipment you can use, so you can do everything from paddle boarding and kayaking to windsurfing, kitesurfing, fishing and snorkelling. You’ll also have an excursion each day out around the lagoon – one day you might go snorkelling with manta rays near a coral garden, head out to the blue lagoon to bask and relax in the beautiful landscape or even head to Eden Farm, where much of islands food is grown, to learn about how people make their lives here.
Leading away from Ninamu Island, there’s a trail of sandbars that look like white pearls dropped in the blue ocean. The first sandbar is a short swim away, across a deeper channel of water where the boats can move. After that, only shallow water separates one sandbar from the other. You can choose to explore the sandbars by kayak or even swim between them – you’ll really feel like a tiny dot in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. It’s an incredible experience.
Included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner, activities
Day 15: Depart Tahiti
Enjoy one final breakfast of toast, Nutella and fresh tropical fruit before making your way back by boat to the airport for your flight to Tahiti, where you’ll connect onto your international flight home.
Included: International flights, transfers, breakfast
Day 16: Arrive UK
