Cabin Baggage Allowance
In order to ensure a safe and comfortable trip, Air Tahiti Nui limits the number, weight and size of the carry-on baggage allowed on its operated flights.

*Personal items include handbags, laptop bags, briefcases, small backpacks, and shoulder bags. It must be able to fit under the seat in front of you or in the overhead compartment when seated at an exit row.

- duty free shopping bag,
- children's accessories such as stroller, car seat, changing bag (see Children section)

Special Carry-on Baggage Authorized in Cabin :
Acoustic Guitar or Ukulele:
Included in your cabin baggage allowance, one ukulele or one acoustic guitar of a length maximum of 115 cm.
It should be preferably placed in a soft case or a cover for guitars with round angles or placed inside your cabin suitcase.
The electric guitar is forbidden in cabin.
Mobility devices
Mobility devices (eg cane, crutches, foldable manual wheelchairs, etc.) are allowed in the cabin for free and in addition to the allowance, provided it can be stored in a compartment on board.
Equipment that cannot be stowed in the cabin will be carried in hold free of charge. Visit our "Special Assistance" page or contact Air Tahiti Nui for more information.
Respiratory Assistive Devices
Respiratory aid devices (such as portable oxygen concentrators, ventilators, etc.) are authorized in the cabin at no extra charge in addition to your regular carry-on allowance. For more information, visit our "Special Assistance" page or contact your Air Tahiti Nui agency.
Checked Baggage Allowance
Air Tahiti Nui limits the number, weight and size of the checked baggage allowed on its operated flights. Your baggage allowance may vary based on your travel class and frequent flyer status.
Most Air Tahiti Nui airfares include a complimentary checked baggage allowance. However on certain routes we have introduced an reduced rate airfare ,”Eco Light”, which has an extra fee for checked luggage.

Important: According to the regulations in force, the maximum weight allowed for a checked baggage is 70 lbs (32 Kg). Beyond 70 lbs (32 Kg), it must be transported as freight.
Gold & Silver Club Tiare Members extra allowance
If you are a Gold or a Silver Club Tiare Member, you are allowed an extra bag free of charge of which the maximum weight should meet that of your travel class. Please note that this extra baggage allowance is not displayed on your ticket and is only valid on Air Tahiti Nui operated flights.
Special Baggage
Assistive devices
If you are traveling with your own assistive device (eg. wheelchair, portable dialysis device, sleep apnea device, etc.), it can be checked in free of charge.
Foldable stroller, carrycot or car seat
If you are travelling with a child under 7 years, a foldable stroller, a carrycot or a car seat may be transported free of charge in the hold, on top of your baggage allowance.
Important: All mobility and assistive devices, folding strollers, carrycots and car seats must be protected and transported in a suitable container.
On Air Tahiti Nui operated flights, in addition to your baggage allowance, you may check-in free of charge one (1) sporting equipment from the list below:
- A golf equipment of 50 lbs / 23kg maximum, or
- A diving equipment of 50 lbs / 23kg maximum, or
- A surfboard, bodyboard, kneeboard, longboard, kitesurf, wakeboard, hydrofoil+board (packed together, otherwise extra piece charges), snowboard, or paddleboard of 50 lbs / 23kg maximum and 98 in. / 250 cm maximum, or
- A ski equipment (water or snow) of 50 lbs / 23kg maximum and 98 in. / 250 cm maximum, or
- An inflatable canoe-kayak or paddleboard of 50 lbs / 23kg maximum and 98 in. / 250 cm maximum, or
- A paddle or a fishing rod in a container that does not exceed 5kg maximum and 98 in. / 250 cm maximum length.
This additional allowance for sports equipment is valid only if you hold an Air Tahiti Nui ticket (TN244) and if you travel on flights operated by Air Tahiti Nui. Different rules may apply on flights provided by our partner airlines.
Important : Sporting equipment must be packaged in a specific hard case or suitable bag.
The weight and size limits mentioned above apply to the packaged sporting equipment.
This additional allowance for sports equipment may be subject to space availability.
Apart from that mentioned above, you may check-in other types of sporting equipment. If by doing so, you comply with your standard baggage allowance, they will be accepted free of charge. If they exceed your baggage allowance in number, weight or size, excess baggage charges will apply.
Sports equipment exceeding 32kg or over the length of 250cm must be transported by our cargo service. Please contact Air Tahiti Nui Cargo.
Conditions of acceptance for bicycles
To be accepted in the hold, bikes must be correctly packed into a specific hard case or bag. Besides, please make sure:
- to remove or turn handlebars and pedals sideways,
- to disassemble the front wheel and fix it to the frame (the deflation of the tires is not necessary)
- to place any loose accessories (pedals, water bottles…) into a bag then place it in the hard case,
- to seal the hard case, and label it with your name, phone number and email address,
- to ensure no part of the bike is protruding out of the hard case.
Do you want to transport more pieces of baggage, oversized or overweight baggage on your trip?
Yes, you can!
The purchase of an oversized, overweight or any other additional piece of luggage can be made in advance, at one of our Ticket Office or on Air Tahiti Nui’s website.
You still have a chance to buy them at the airport on the day of your departure.
If you are travelling on codeshare flights operated by one of our partners or if you have a connecting flight provided by another airline, please review and respect the baggage transport rules as they may be different from the Air Tahiti Nui baggage rules. The service is reserved under the passenger's name, and cannot be transferred to a third party.

Charges for this service may be reimbursed after purchase if:
We change your reservation and you travel on a flight that isn't operated by Air Tahiti Nui,

4 - LIQUIDS, GELS AND AEROSOLS
Liquids, gels and aerosols are allowed in cabin if packaged in small quantities (100 ml maximum per product), in a transparent plastic bag (e.g.: Ziploc) measuring approximately 20 cm x 20 cm, with a capacity not exceeding one liter (only one bag per person).
Beverages, foods and other items purchased in the boarding area under customs control can be carried on board the aircraft without limits on quantity or volume, provided they are kept in their sealed and transparent bag with proof of purchase.
Exceptions:
The products below are allowed if needed during the flight without any restriction:
- Food for baby being less than 2 years old
- Medicines with prescription or declaration of a doctor
- Food for a special diet
5 - MEDICINES AND MEDICAL EQUIPMENT
If you need to transport medicines in cabin, it is recommended that you keep your prescription as well as your medicines’ packaging and instructions leaflet for security checks purposes. Besides, if your medicines need to keep refrigerated, please make your arrangements beforehand as Air Tahiti Nui cannot keep them refrigerated on board.
If you need to carry medical equipment in cabin, e.g.: syringes, you should declare it at safety checks.
6 - POWDERS
For all passengers traveling to or via the U.S.A.
For all passengers departing from New Zealand or Australia.
As of June 30, 2018, new measures limit the transport of powders and any other fine particles or ground, crushed or disintegrated substances, e.g.: flour, sugar, coffee, powdered milk, sand, powdered vanilla, etc.).
It is strictly prohibited to transport powder with a capacity exceeding 350 ml (12 oz) in hand luggage. It should be carried in your checked luggage.
Exceptions:
- Food for baby being less than 2 years old
- Medicines with prescription or declaration of a doctor
- Funeral ashes
- Items purchased in duty free stores at the airport kept in their sealed and transparent bag with proof of purchase
7 - PORTABLE ELECTRONIC DEVICES
If you are traveling to the United States, be sure all your electronic devices (e.g. computers, laptops, tablets, mobile phones, game consoles, cameras, etc.) are charged. They may be checked for proper function and if they do not turn on, your device may be confiscated.

The conditions for transporting electronic devices and their spare batteries depend on:

Wheelchairs, mobility devices powered with retractable lithium-ion batteries:
For wheelchairs equipped with 2 batteries, each battery’s power rating must not exceed 160 Wh. A spare battery with a maximum power rating of 300 Wh OR two batteries with a maximum of 160 Wh each are allowed in the cabin. Batteries with a power rating in excess of 300 Wh are only allowed in checked baggage. Approval of the operator(s) listed on your itinerary is required
Smart Bag equipped with a lithium battery
In checked luggage : when carried in checked luggage, the battery should be removed from the bag and carried in hand luggage
In carry-on luggage : when carried hand luggage, the battery should be removable.
If the battery can’t be removed, the luggage should not be accepted on board, in carry-on and checked luggage
