XTERRA Tahiti includes different sports challenges scheduled over two days in Tahiti and Moorea. Among these, the Nature Triathlon, integrated to the XTERRA Asia-Pacific circuit, is a qualifying stage for the XTERRA World Championship in Maui. At the origin of this beautiful story and also included in the race, is the Run & Bike (1 mountain bike for 2 runners).

It will therefore be at forefront for the 10th anniversary. The XTERRA Trail will allow the best runners to compete on the crossing of the island to earn entries for the Championship of the World XTERRA Trail Championship in Oahu. Finally, races with more accessible distances are on the program :Fun Tri, Fun Run and Fun Kids.

XTERRA, which started in the United States in 1996, entails a combination of mountain biking, a triathlon and trail running. After having made its marks in the USA, XTERRA spread onto the world stage with a qualifying circuit for the World Championships, held every October on the island of Maui in Hawaii (October 29th 2017). Amateurs are divided by age groups (every 5 years). Each group winner earns a qualifying slot to the World Championships in Maui.

In 2013, the event evolved into a Nature Triathlon and other great athletes have come to inscribe their names in the triathlon’s record books. These athletes were : Olivier MARCEAU (Switzerland) - Shonny VANLANDINGHAM (USA) - Tony MOULAI (France) - Aurélien RAPHAËL (France).
EnIn 2014, the sponsor was the famous navigator, Laurent BOURGNON. The United States in force! The organizing club of these sporting challenges, VSOP brought several American athletes. Shonny VANLANDINGHAM (USA) - Kristen Kelly MIHALIC (USA) - Dan Mc INTOSH (USA).
In 2015, there were 118 registered participants (in all categories combined). This edition was sponsored by renowned triathlete Mark ALLEN. Among the international athletes present were Brice DAUBORD (1st place men’s triathlon), Oliver SHAW, Tony MOULAI, Matt BACKLER and Sarah BACKLER (1st place women’s triathlon).
In 2016, on Saturday, May 14th , the 9th edition of the event (2nd edition under the name XTERRA Tahiti) took place with a record of 423 registered participants! This edition was marked by the presence of 7 world champions including its sponsor : Laurent JALABERT (France), Josiah MIDDAUGH (USA), Lesley PATERSON (Ecosse), Nicolas LEBRUN (France), Christophe BETARD (France), Dominique BORDET (France), Frédéric TETE (Tahiti).



On the Asia-Pacific circuit :5 000 participants

Average number of participants in XTERRA competitions : 190 000 people

Average age is : between 25 and 49
