Traveling with children

For international travel, all infants/babies, children and minors must have a valid passport and comply with immigration requirements of the destination country. In some countries, infants/babies may need a reference on a parent’s passport. Check with Air Tahiti Nui, your travel arranger, or the consulate of the countries visited.

Infants / Babies:

The fare for infants/babies under two years old is 10 percent of the applicable available fare at the time of booking. The infant/baby will not have their own seat to sit in. If you want a guaranteed seat, you will need to purchase a child fare. Bassinets may be available upon request, but are not guaranteed until check-in. They may not be suitable for larger infants/babies (Maximum weight allowed is 14kg).

A 23-month-old babies who reaches 2 years old during the journey will need to travel on a reserved seat ; the applicable fare will be the Child fare for the entire journey.  In this case, the infant will benefit from the standard baggage allowance corresponding to the reserved class of transport (1 piece of 23kg in economy class or 2 pieces of 32kg in business class).

Accompanied Minors:

Children ages 2 to 11 qualify for a child fare. Children must have a valid passport when travelling to a foreign country. In all cases, passengers must comply with immigration requirements of the destination and transit country. Always check with the consulate of the country you are traveling to and confirm details before traveling.

Unaccompanied Minors:

Air Tahiti Nui offers a free assistance to the unaccompanied minors ( UM) from 5 to 14 years old, travelling aboard our planes. This service is compulsory for the inclusive unaccompanied children from 5 to 11 years old, and optional for the unaccompanied children from 12 to 14 years old. At the time of the purchase of your ticket, you have to indicate that your child will travel alone. A specific information will then be asked to you. Air Tahiti Nui does not offer UM assistance when there is a connecting flight with another airline.

Before Leaving:

Besides their passports, prepare a bag with everything your child(ren) may need during the flight (pullover, medicine, books, etc...).

Minimum check-in time for children traveling alone is at least 2 hours prior to departure. Before leaving the airport, you are required to wait until an Air Tahiti Nui agent confirms the flight departure.
