Air Tahiti Nui maintains its commercial flights
Above all, Air Tahiti Nui and all of its teams would like to thank its customers and partners for their support during this difficult period.
The resumption of our flights is essential for the Polynesian economy and for our families to get back together. Nevertheless, Air Tahiti Nui is aware of the importance of preserving Polynesia from the COVID-19 epidemic. Your well-being and safety are therefore more than ever at the heart of our priorities. We are working with the health authorities, the airports and our suppliers in order to respect these commitments throughout your trip.
CONDITIONS OF ENTRANCE TO FRENCH POLYNESIA - VACCINATION REQUIRED FROM MAY 1ST
French Polynesia has been very successful in combatting Covid-19. Vaccination of the local population is under way and new cases are minimal. The CDC ranking is in the yellow tier, the lowest of the four tiers, ranked as “Low”.
In order to prevent the introduction of new strains of Covid-19, to eradicate Covid-19 completely, to protect the local population and to provide visitors with the best possible vacation experience, the re-opening of the International borders, are subject to the conditions listed below:
If entering French Polynesia from the United States, only persons from the US, France, EU countries, United Kingdom, Israel, Lebanon, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, South Korea or other “Green zone”* countries irrespective of nationality, who have been in the United States for the preceding 15 continuous days prior to their departure, and residents of French Polynesia on their return flight may be accepted onboard flights originating in the United States to French Polynesia.
Full Vaccination (and minors up to the age and including the age of 17 with vaccinated parents, legal guardian)
- Proof of "complete vaccination schedule" – (CDC vaccination card, ETIS Sanitary Receipt). For children up to and including the age of 17, if travelling with their parents or official legal guardian, they are not required to be vaccinated and may enter the country with their parents/legal guardian.
- A person is considered fully vaccinated 14 days after receiving the second dose of Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech.
- A person is considered fully vaccinated 28 days after receiving the dose of Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine. - Note for departure up to June 16th, 14 days after the dose is acceptable.
- A negative laboratory RT-PCR test three days before departure, age 11 and older.
- Between 30 to 6 days prior to departure register on the ETIS online platform. Upload a copy of the Vaccination Certificate and receive a receipt via email. (Do not complete the “Administrative Application”). Complete the remainder of the ETIS Application and receive by email an ETIS receipt.
Must Have Documents for Airport check in are :
The ETIS receipt copies, the negative RT-PCR test result and valid Passport. It is recommended to carry a copy of the vaccination document.
No quarantine on arrival needed.
- Upon arrival an antigen test will be given for all passengers 6 years and older. If the test is positive, a 10-day quarantine at the traveler’s expense may be required.**
- Children 11 and older, on arrival will be given a self-test kit to be used 4 days and if still in country, 8 days after arrival. Hand this in at the hotel.
For travelers who 1.) have already been infected by Covid-19, or who 2.) are not vaccinated or who 3.) have stayed less than 15 days in the US, France, EU countries, United Kingdom, Israel, Lebanon, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, South Korea or other “Green zone”* countries irrespective of nationality: Mandatory quarantine is required upon arrival for 10 days in Tahiti at the expense of the traveler in Government assigned properties. (Except returning students and residents who are returning medical evacuees and their companion).
- A negative laboratory RT-PCR test three days before departure, which must be presented at departure.
- Between 30 to 6 days prior to departure register on the ETIS online platform. Complete first the “Administrative Application” Note Family, Health and Work justification for entry. Receive by email the administrative receipt.
- After that is completed, then complete the ETIS Application. This application must be submitted for each passenger (including children) and is valid for both the inbound and outbound flight if both are filled out in the application. Receive by email an ETIS receipt.
- After completion of point 2 and 3 above, receive at least 2 days prior to departure a Boarding Authorization from the High Commission.
Must Have Documents for Airport check in are :
The ETIS receipt, High Commission Boarding authorization receipt, the negative RT-PCR test result and a valid Passport.
Quarantine on arrival needed for 10 days at Government approved property.
- Upon arrival an antigen test will be given for age 6 and above.
- Mandatory quarantine for 10 days in Tahiti, except returning resident students and returning residents medical evacuee and their companion.
- RT-PCR test at day 4 and 8.
- Release from quarantine after day 10 assuming negative infection.
Prior to boarding – INFORMATION ON THE RT-PCR TEST REQUIRED:
- Proof of a negative Covid-19 test (RT-PCR) molecular laboratory test, carried out within three days prior to their Air Tahiti Nui international air departure (e.g. if the flight departs on a Tuesday at 10:30 PM, the passenger needs to take the test the preceding Saturday).
- RT-PCR Covid-19 test is mandatory for all passengers 11 years of age or older. The test has to be a molecular SARS-CoV-2 genome detection for Covid-19 by Reverse Transcriptase-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) performed by a qualified professional.
- The document with the results of this test must clearly state:
- A negative result
- Test type being laboratory molecular RT-PCR. All molecular tests proposed with the abbreviations below* are accepted:
- *RT-PCR = reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction
- *RT = reverse transcriptase
- *RT-LAMP = loop-mediated isothermal amplification
- *TMA = Transcription Mediated Amplification
- *Isothermal amplification
- *STAR = Selective Temperature Amplification Reaction
- Date test taken
- Name of individual/passenger
- The medical document must be issued by a Doctor, Hospital or Medical Clinic and must be presented to airline staff upon check-in prior to boarding the flight to French Polynesia
Please note that Antigen, Antibody, Self-Testing, Home Testing or Rapid Tests of any kind, including rapid RT-PCR tests such as the Abbott ID NOW are not accepted by the Health Authorities of French Polynesia and aircraft boarding will be denied.

- Required travel insurance or sign a declaration assuming all associated medical, confinement, or repatriation costs, should they fall ill during their stay.
Customers who fail to comply with any of the above mandatory health measures will not be allowed to board.

** Please note that at some undetermined time in the future the Covid-19 tests upon arrival and during the stay will be at travelers' expense. The start date of these charges will be advised when known. Rates will be:
- 5,000XPF for vaccinated and immunized travelers
- 12,000XPF for other travelers
The sanitary measures adopted by Air Tahiti Nui and the airports actively contribute to limiting the spread of the virus. The specific measures to maintain physical distance in all waiting areas must be respected and include ground markings and signage. The contactless check-in counters are also designed to limit the risks.
Masks are compulsory for everyone at the airport. In compliance with the current USDOT ruling, applicable for flights to and from the US, the wearing of a surgical mask is required on board, for the entire duration of the flights and for all passengers above the age of 2. For all other ATN flights, the wearing of a sugical mask is required for children above the age of 11. Failure to comply with this measure on board is considered an offense and will be subject to penalty. All our crews on board and on the ground are also equipped with surgical masks.
Air Tahiti Nui provides its customers with a health kit including 2 surgical masks, a bottle of hydroalcoholic gel and disinfectant wipes.
To ensure proper hygiene in airports, hydroalcoholic gel dispensers are also available throughout your journey.
Reinforced cleaning and disinfection measures
The hygiene on board is at the center of our priorities. The procedure for cleaning and disinfecting our devices is reinforced at the start and at the finish of each route, using specific measures against the coronavirus. Thorough cleaning of our cabins and strict sanitary rules imposed on our various suppliers also allow us to limit the risks of contamination via our equipment and services on board.
During the flight, our crews are taking care of the cabins, with more frequent cleaning of all common areas using a specific disinfectant. Passengers are requested to limit their movements on board as much as possible in order to maintain physical distance and the cleanliness of the cabins.
Cabin air filtration
Our latest generation 787-9 Dreamliner aircrafts are equipped with a high-performance air filtration system, effective for removing particles, bacteria and viruses. The cabin air flow does not circulate from one row to the other, and the air is renewed every 2 to 3 minutes.
This system is equipped with filters identical to those employed in hospitals and manage to capture and block up to 99.995% of bacteria and viruses in the cabin. This air purification system guarantees a significant reduction in the risk of contamination by air on board. However, to avoid any risk, we ask our passengers to wear a mask for the entire duration of the flight.
Hygiene on board
Simplified on-board services
The on-board catering offer has been simplified in order to limit contact. The aperitif and meal services are combined. Meals are provided in a single passage in all travel classes and concentrated in a single tray service, including desserts for Business class. The choice of wines and drinks is also reduced with the same purpose: limiting interactions and serving time. Finally, the choice of special meals is also limited in order to facilitate the service on board.
For the same purpose, the magazines on board are removed, excluding the safety sheet, modified for single use only. However, a selection of press and magazines, in-flight magazines and meal service menus can be viewed on our on-board entertainment system.
The duty-free service on board is suspended. However, this service remains available at the airport shop upon your arrival in Tahiti.
