Our History

In 1996, Air Tahiti Nui was founded to connect the world to one of its greatest treasures, the islands of Tahiti.

Our fleet, entirely renewed in 2019, is composed of Boeing 787-9s, our "Tahitian Dreamliners". Air Tahiti Nui provides service to Tahiti from Paris, Los Angeles, Auckland and Tokyo. With our partnerships and code share agreements, we’ve extended our service to include 39 top destinations, including Sydney, Beijing and New York.

As a Tahitian face to the rest of the world, Air Tahiti Nui takes enormous care to demonstrate the hospitality, beauty and relaxed nature of the nation’s people in every detail of the airline.

A greeting that includes a warm smile and beautiful white-petal Tiare, a cabin crew that changes from sleek city uniforms to elegant and comfortable Tahitian attire shortly after take-off, service that is both attentive and unassuming and enthusiasm from all its staff to do whatever it takes to make passengers feel relaxed and satisfied.

Over time, we have built a true relationship of trust with our passengers, who have remained faithful to us for 20 years now. The Tiare Club was created to value and reward this loyalty

Since 2015, we have been engaged in a CSR approach (Corporate Social Responsibility). Sustainable development is a key issue for our company and for our islands. That same year, Air Tahiti Nui embarked on a new adventure - the renewal of its fleet - by ordering 4 Boeing Dreamliner 787-9. In this momentum of technological progress, it is in 2016 that the Amadeus Altéa IT management system is put in place, perfecting the service offer and booking possibilities for all Air Tahiti Nui customers.

2018 marks the realization of long-standing projects: the family is expanding with Tahiti Nui Helicopters, the first subsidiary of Air Tahiti Nui, and the company is celebrating its 20th anniversary! To celebrate this anniversary, Air Tahiti Nui has a new look: new logo, new graphic universe and new fleet. The Tahitian Dreamliners 787-9 of Air Tahiti Nui have been in service since November 2018.

And it's not over yet ... many projects are underway and we will continue to work with you to make you travel and dream for many more years.

Recognition and honors

Our hard work has earned us several of the travel industry's most prestigious awards. Air Tahiti Nui was crowned a “Five Star Major Airline” by APEX in 2019 and won “Best Seat Comfort in the South Pacific Region” at the APEX 2020 Regional Passenger Choice Award. Air Tahiti Nui was also elected one of the "World's Best Airlines" by the magazine Travel + Leisure (2008, 2011 and 2012), and named “Best Leisure Airline 2019” as well as "Best Airline in the South Pacific" by the readers of Global Traveler (2011, 2012, 2015, 2018, and 2019). With the renewal of its fleet, the airline was awarded "Best New Livery 2018" in the TheDesignAir Awards.
